Windows 8 is different than its earlier Operating Systems. If you are familiar with using earlier Windows Operating System (OS); while using Windows 8, you will come to know how different it is from its earlier OSs. To start an application in earlier Windows Operating Systems is just click on Start button; go to Programs and then select the application you want to launch. In case of Windows 8, it is different. Windows 8 user interface, look and feel are different.
This article explains the steps to open an Application in Windows 8 Operating System.
Step 1. Click on right edge of the screen (if you are using touch screen, slide right to left). Windows 8 will display a slide-out menu.
Step 2. Select Start icon from slide-out menu. Windows 8 will display Start screen.
Step 3. Check for your application in Start screen. You can scroll right (slide right) to see more applications.
Step 4. If you find the application on Start screen, select the Application. Windows 8 will open the selected Application.
If your application is not appeared on Start screen, follow the below steps.
Step 5. From slide-out menu, select Search icon. Windows 8 will display a Search pane.
Step 6. Select Apps item which is under the search box and start typing the name of the application in search box.
Ex: If you want to open “Remote Desktop Connection” application, start typing “Remote” in the search box.
Step 7. Window 8 will display the Application search results. From search results select the Application you want to open. Once you selected the Application, Windows 8 will open the selected Application.
Ex: If you select “Remote Desktop Connection” Application from search results, Windows 8 will open “Remote Desktop Connection” Application for you.
