Windows 7 – How to check what Graphics card installed in the System?

Graphics cards are used to display the output and also can perform additional processing for better performance to release the overload from the CPU (Central Processing Unit). Actually, the GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) on Graphics card will perform the additional processing.

Through this article, we are going to discuss finding the ways to figure out, what Graphics card using in the System (which is running on Windows Operating System).

Find Graphics card details using Device Manager

Step 1. Go to Control Panel and then select Device Manager. Device Manager displays the list of hardware devices installed on the computer. It also allows us to modify the properties of each device.

Click on Windows Start menu, and type “Device Manager” in the Search box. Then select the Device Manager, to open it.

Step 2. From the Device Manager dialog, expand “Display adapters” entry to view the list of Graphics cards installed in the System.

Step 3. Double click on the display adapter; of which you want to know more details. Device Manager will display the properties of the selected display adapter. You can go through these details to know what drivers installed in the System, install / uninstall the driver(s), disable / enable the device etc,.

Another way of verifying the Graphics card details is through, DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

Step 1. Click on Windows Start menu, select Run… and then type, dxdiag in Run dialog. Windows will open DirectX Diagnostic Tool; which is used to report detailed information about DirectX components, Graphics device details and also displays the details of the drivers installed.

Step 2. Select Display tab to view the Graphics devices details, installed on your System. Graphics device details will be shown in “Device” group and installed drivers details will be shown in “Drivers” group.
