When a new version of WHMCS (Web Host Manager Complete Solution) is released and planned to upgrade to the new version, usually the site administrator put the portal into maintenance mode and upgrade to the new version. Once the upgrade is successful, the site administrator disables the maintenance mode, and users can able to access the site.
Below are the steps to put the WHMCS based billing & support portal into maintenance mode.
This article applies to:
- WHMCS v5.x
Step (1). Log in to your WHMCS admin panel as an administrator.
Step (2). Move the mouse cursor over the Setup menu. It will display a pull-down menu.
Step (3). Click on the General Settings menu item. It will display the General Settings page. Click on General tab.
Step (4). Scroll down the page and check the Tick to enable – prevents client area access when enabled check box for Maintenance Mode field.
Step (5). Provide the message you want to display when your site is in maintenance mode in the Maintenance Mode Message text area.
Step (6). Instead of showing the message when the site is in maintenance mode; if you want to redirect to another URL, mention the URL where you want to redirect when the user accesses your site in Maintenance Mode Redirect URL field. If you don’t want to redirect, leave this field empty.
Step (7). Click on the Save Changes button to apply your changes.
Step (8). Now open your WHMCS client in another browser window and you observe that you are not allowed to enter into the site. It will display the below message as your site is in maintenance mode.
