Photoshop – Resize Image article, discuss the steps to resize an image using Adobe Photoshop CS6 Application. Resizing of an image doesn’t crop the image; it just resizes the dimensions (width & height) of the image. Also, it allows to reduces the quality of the image.
In this article, I am going to explain to resize an image using Photoshop.
Step 1. Open an image in Adobe Photoshop CS6 Application.
Step 2. Select Image menu and then select “Image Size…” menu item. OR press Alt + Ctrl + I key combination. Photoshop will open the Image Size dialog to allow you to change the dimensions or size of the image.
Step 3. From the Image Size dialog, you can change the size of the image by modifying values in the “Width:” & “Height:” fields from the “Pixel Dimensions:” & “Document Size:” sections.
The fields in “Pixel Dimensions:” are directly related to the image.
The fields related to “Document Size:” sections are related to the image, which is going to Print or placed in another application or document. The final print size depends on the values set in the Print options. You are setting the values here means, you are targeting it for printing.
Change the image width & height from “Width:” & “Height:” fields in “Pixel Dimensions:” section. Automatically, Photoshop adjusts the values in other fields too; like changing its printed characteristics, etc. You can change the values in pixels or in percent from these fields.
Step 4. When you change the image dimensions, image resolution won’t change. Image resolution means, the number of pixels per inch in the image. The print quality of a low-resolution image is poor than a high-resolution image.
And also file size of a high-resolution image is bigger than the low-resolution image.
If you want to target to display your image on the Web, you can select a low-resolution image; so that it can quickly appear on the Web.
Step 5. Resample the image by selecting the check box “Resample Image:” and selecting an interpolation method from the combo box. Resample will reduce the quality of the image. If you want to target your image (low quality) to display on the website, you can select this option.
Once the changes are done, click on the OK button to apply the changes to the Image.
Step 6. Save the modified image.
Don’t forget to give your feedback through comments.
