Photoshop – How to rotate an image?

Adobe Photoshop allows us to rotate an image in different angle. Through this Article, we are going to discuss the image rotation.

Step 1. Open the image in Adobe Photoshop CS6 Application.

Step 2. Click on Image menu. Then, select Image Rotation menu item. Photoshop will display the sub-menu; allows us to rotate the image.

Step 3. Image Rotation sub-menu has below menu items. By selecting the menu item; you can rotate the image in different directions. For example, if below image (left arrow) is your original image; once you apply the rotation, the image turns to different shape.

  • 1800 – Rotate the image in 180 degrees. The image (left arrow) turns to right arrow.

  • 900 CW – Rotate the image in 90 degrees ClockWise. Left arrow image turns to Up Arrow.

  • 900 CCW – Rotate the image in 90 degrees Counter ClockWise. The image left arrow, turns to Down arrow.

  • Flip Canvas Horizontal – Flip the canvas Horizontally. This flips the image horizontally.
  • Flip Canvas Vertical – Flip the canvas Vertically. This flips the image vertically.

 

Step 4. Image Rotation sub-menu displays “Arbitrary…” menu item also. When you select it; Photoshop will display “Rotate Canvas” dialog, to allow you to rotate the image in the specified Angle.

  • You can mention the Angle in Angle field.
  • And select whether the rotate is ClockWise or Counter ClockWise by selecting 0CW or 0CCW option buttons.

Once the change done, click on OK button to Apply the rotation.

Step 5. Once your changes to the image done, save it to retain the changes.
