Microsoft Word provides a lot of features for users to design documents. Through this article, we are going to discuss the steps needed to place a picture into a shape.
Step 1. Select the shape object from the Word document.
When the shape object is selected, Word will display an additional tab in the ribbon which is Shape Format.
Assuming a shape object is already placed inside the Word document. Otherwise, you can insert the shape object by clicking on the “Insert” tab and then selecting the required shape which you want to fill with the picture from the drop-down menu you will get by clicking on the “Shapes” icon.
Step 2. Click on the Shape Format tab. Word will display the options to format the selected shape object. Click on the Shape Fill item from the Shape Styles group. Word will display the pull-down menu and from the pull-down menu select the “Picture…” menu item. Word will display the “Insert Pictures” dialog to allow us to select the picture for the shape.
Step 3. From the “Insert Pictures” dialog, select one of the options to insert a picture into the selected shape object. Once the picture is selected, you can see it appears inside the shape object.
Crop the picture to the selected Shape
Microsoft Word provides another beautiful feature which is to crop the Picture to the Shape.
Step 1. Select the picture you want to crop. Once you select the picture, Word will display the Picture Format tab in the ribbon control. Select the Picture Format tab.
Step 2. The Picture Format tab provides the options to format the selected picture. Now we need to look for the Crop feature. We can find the Crop icon under the Size group. Select the Crop icon. Word will display the pull-down menu, and from the pull-down menu select the “Crop to Shape” option.
Step 3. Once you select the “Crop to Shape” option, Word will display the list of shapes, and select the shape to which you want to Crop the picture. Word will crop the picture to the selected Shape.
